each helmet comes with a handle to block your vision

It doesn't matter since you get everything projected on the visor so you can still "see". Also the handle doubles as a rollcage if you bump into anything :D
I mean look at the oculus or any other vr goggles.

I'd agree this would not be as "practical" a design if it was based on augmented reality though.

Exactly. Just like the VESA mount on the back of your monitor blocks your view.
