Trump should appoint some wino off the streets of NYC to be ambassador to the UN. Give the UN a good idea who they are. Better yet, have a "UN Ambassador of the Day" & each day get a different wino off the streets of NYC.

Everything about the UN's actions in this instance, & in most instances, was a brain-dead screw-up.
Sending the Irish to the middle of nowhere to stand on a spot that was difficult to defend. A completely symbolic piece of stupidity.
Having no air support in country & doing nothing in advance to hold the bridge they needed to use to connect to the Irish. Incompetence at picking a fight but not being prepared to win it.
Attacking facilities of the "new govt" without telling the Irish out in the field that hostilities had started & it would likely spill over into their area.

etc

UN? What a fecking joke. In the year 2016, the world would be better off without it.
I would say the worst thing about this film is that it pulled its punches on revealing what corrupt idiots UN bureaucrats are.

The stupidity was really the fault of Conor Cruise O'Brien.
It was he who decided that the UN's mission should be to end the Katangan secession by force. The UN position was supposed to be one of neutrality when faced with internal disputes.

Lumumba demanded that the UN forces be used to end the secession. The CIA/Belgians just wanted Katanga and were prepared to let the rest go to the USSR. They arranged the assassination of Lumumba. Eisenhower personally authorized his assassination, though in the end US involvement in the actual arrest is not certain. Belgian complicity is proven.

At this point they supported Mobutu's coup and eventual takeover of the entire country. Mobutu and his cronies proceeded to rape the country for the rest of his life, supported by the CIA continuously.

Eventually when he died, the country had no infrastructure and collapsed provoking a war which lasted a decade and killed an estimated 5 million people.

So instead of bitching about the UN, you should direct your complaints to the people who are really responsible for the catastrophe that is Congo, in Belgium, the US, the USSR and not forgetting Britain whose racist puppet regime next door in Rhodesia who supplied the merc.

Well I see you are reduced to hurling insults, I see no further use in debate. You should read my posts and wiki on Congo, you could actually learn something about the UN and your own country's history. Prejudice is a hard nut to crack though. Good luck.

Another one who was conned. And stop with this Clinton non sense. Both candidates were awful. But at least Clinton prepared for debates, knows how to run things and didn't say things that just did not make sense. It wasn't even about true or false anymore. It was about things that are not even on this side of reality. There is already a wall, and he won't build a bigger one. Mexico will not pay for it either. He won't assign a personal prosecutor to Hillary and she won't be put in jail. Obama did not create Isis. Some could argue that sowing hate like he does is what ISIS wants. I mean, this whole election was a joke. But don't come here telling us that Trump will make the US a better place. He won't. Because he just CAN'T do all the promises his "political platform" (if you can call it that) was based on. You were conned. How does it feel?
