Male cop gets out of breath, female cop keeps chasing.

Men are useless, and Happy Valley was so good, they decided to remake it!

Haha. I really do not think you can replicate the amazing Happy Valley. This excuse of a series is a joke.
Lazy writing and very poor story telling.

I thought it was more to do with him being comic relief anyway, and the fact that he's overweight where she isn't.

But whatever.

You're right. It's no Happy Valley, but I'm not sure Happy Valley would've even been what it became if not for the MALE lead James Norton. His performance is the stuff of legends and took that show into stratospheric quality.

No Offence is decent enough, and I'm finishing up Season 1 which has a good mystery. Joanna Scanlan is entertaining with some great lines due to some great writing, but the female cop-centric view is tiring. I have noticed how the male cop characters appear young and inexperienced, so they stand around and watch the female cops doing all the legwork, the chasing, the tackling of suspects, the heroics, etc. The male cops only serve as foil characters to highlight and distinguish how awesome the female cops are! I say this as a woman myself.

Another thing I noticed, and it's a spoiler. In Season 1 when it becomes obvious to Viv and Dinah that the serial killer is one of their own, NONE of the female cops are suspected. Viv and Dinah go around confirming the whereabouts of all of their male colleagues.
