Sorry CBC. Your days are numbered.

I can't wait to see this f'ing "network" to get a permanent spot in Davy Jones Locker...

I knew this series would crash/burn, the split second I saw a trailer for it. I knew
CBC wanted to basically rip off HBO/AMC...but instead of having compelling characters/edgy storylines...

We just got a barf-bag of repackaged feminism.

BORING.

Addendum: "Ascension" is next to get sh!t-canned. The whole "Mad Men in outer Space". NOPE.

The CBC's days aren't numbered; in fact, they've been having some significant ratings success with a fair number of shows. Any broadcaster would be happy with their overall situation.

CBC didn't initiate the project to basically rip off anyone. They were pitched the project by independent producers and the showrunner.

There's nothing wrong with taking inspiration from certain shows and sensibilities. That's how all artists work.

The storytelling quality was not high, but the complaint that it was "repackaged feminism" makes no sense.

What is so "feminist" about this show. It's basically a bunch of people, males and females, surviving in a lawless land. The only difference with traditional westerns is that there are actually female characters that are allowed to be characters !

On top of that, there is plenty of violence against women, oppression, sexism, rape... How anyone could complain this is somehow too feminist is beyond me... unless the mere fact of watching a female character is ungodly to you.

Nobody cares. CBC makes garbage.

The ratings don't lie.

CBC is dead.

I don't know where you get your data, but it's an inaccurate source. Numeris is the best source for Cdn. TV ratings.

CBC shows: Book of Negroes averaged 1.6M. Murdoch Mysteries is consistently in the Top 30 watched shows at around 1.3M; its Xmas special was 1.9M, at #2. Rick Mercer does over 1M. 22 Minutes does around 1M. X Company did about 850K. Schitt's Creek does 1.1M. Heartland is perennially strong at around 900K - 1M. Dragons Den nets around 800K.

Clearly the CBC makes high quality shows, not that sheer numbers tell the whole story, but there are indeed high numbers on their roster.

The fact is the CBC has been enjoying positive critical and numerical results lately.
