Sounds very similar to the movie 'Angel in the House' with Ioan Gruffud

Oh I might have to hunt that one out. Ioan is another actor that makes my toes curl, if you know what I mean!! ;)

Angel in the House is a wonderful movie. You will love it. And it does have some similarities to this movie.
