If people want to get their nostalgia kick then simulating the style of a particular genre without making it into a comedy is the way they should get it. It still benefits from all the modern technology and nods to societal norms and irregularities but holds a long a thankful nod to the cinema which inspired it and not a rehash of a specific story.
