Anna Biller gets it.. again! So well done.

There are countless directors/producers working today who "claim" to be paying homage to classic 70s and 80s genre cinema, only to produce nothing of the sort, using this as nothing more than a buzzword. Tragically, the current generation of American independent movie makers are so utterly clueless that they don't even really consider, let alone try and understand, what it is that genre fans love about genre cinema.

This, however, is a nice surprise. It's a great standout in a sea of endlessly boring, repetitive, absolute crap genre movies we see today.

Beautifully concepted and shot, with many real details taken into consideration. It captures much of what we fans love about genre film, and does it so well.

Another key area where, again sadly, pretty much all of today's indie producers and directors go wrong is not only in content but in casting, too. This is another element where the movie shines. They did a wonderful job casting for the film. Samantha Robinson was a wonderful choice and is a stunning beauty.

Kudos to Anna Biller, who also did similar fantastic job with Viva. You're vision and talent is superb! If only indie cinema had more like you!

Anyone who loves genre film, 70s B-movies or edgy, arthouse films in general, will love this pic.

Why do you feel the need to put down other filmmakers? You're overreacting about the quality of this film. It's overlong and the director doesn't fully understand this genre, and at times she forces conventions where they should naturally flow. It's certainly has the style, I agree there, but shut the *beep* up about it being this masterpiece, because it's not.

And stunning beauty? Lol. Maybe with a bucket of makeup and a wig, sure.

Overall you have a pretty low knowledge of film and film criticism. Good thing these message boards are closing, so I don't have to read pseudo-intellectual wannabe morons such as yourself.

They're closing because people like you are total pricks and *beep* to others opinions. He didn't ask you to reply, he's or she is just stating what they liked about the film. So bye to your nonsense and douche qualities can never be missed.

T-Sour, I totally agree with you. 12-year-olds and trolls brought the demise of this board. so much salt.

They will love it if they can stay awake, rainetc. It needs to have 45 minutes cut out of it. The part that it was written by a woman who clearly hates men (paraphrase: “The more a woman knows a man, the more she loves him; the more a man knows a woman, the less he loves her”) is nauseating, just plain not right, and reflects a damaged-goods author who is acting out.

Biller does not “get it,” at all. She skimmed a lot of self-help books before writing this. In the closing minutes of the film, we see the Love Witch and the cop in a strip club. The cop accuses her of murder. She replies, “They died of love.” The cop says, “Love is a borderline personality disorder.” She replies, “You’re just a Narcissist.”

Newsflash: there are several necessary components to BPD: paranoia, compulsive lying, Narcissism, megalomania and Sadism. Love is nowhere on that list. Borderlines cannot create interpersonal relationships. It is literally impossible for them. However, Borderlines can never admit to being wrong, so she accuses the cop of Narcissism to deflect his point. This scene REEKS of a screenwriter who stole words out of self-help books and slammed them down in front of an audience as if they were a winning hand at Poker.
