In the latest movie, she makes a casual statement that Halloween is 7 days away, which means she said it on October 24th. Did she and her family forget her birthday this year? I think just the writers forgot.
Maybe the writers just didn't think that Cassie's birthday was important to the story. Or maybe they decided that Oct 24th was no longer Cassie's birthday. It's annoying but writers do sometimes do things like that to assist in their story telling and thus create inconsistencies in their own writing. It's called artistic license.
