Total ripoff of Archer

I nearly fell asleep half the show. And it's very poorly written. Like the just tried stealing show ideas and spicing them up a little bit.
I won't lie they had a great cast setup though.

reply

Nah. You say it's like Archer, but it's more like Miami Vice. I guess you could say it would be like if Archer had a cousin in Miami (who dressed like Crockett), and was a cop, instead of a Spy, or whatever Archer is.

reply

Or like Archer Vice...

Just cause its a different plot, doesn't mean it's not a rip of a character style, humor, direction... I also felt Archer was their template.

Just like Parks and Rec had The Office as their template and the first season sucked because they were just trying to copy it. This show might come into its own (has a great cast) but only time will tell

Exactly. Zombieland and The Walking Dead have the same plot, but one's a dark drama and the other's a goofy comedy. The style is a much more important factor than just the bare bones of the premise.

And The Office had... The Office, which it copied beat for beat. Must be why that one sucks, too.

reply

I was about to say Archer Vice. But someone already said that. But I know what you mean.

reply

No, it isn't. Archer is funny. This is not.

reply

I agree - Archer is hilarious. I love the characters, the writing, the jokes....

Moonbeam City is like that guy in high school who thought he was edgy and hilarious but in reality he's annoying, obnoxious and tries too hard.

reply

If Moonbeam City was made first, you'd say the same about it. Archer has gotten stale, and LOST. The stories are pretty crappy, since ISIS. They pretend ISIS never happened.

reply

Word.

reply

Archer isn't as good as it was in its 2nd and 3rd seasons, but i still find enough there to make it worth watching.

At its worst, Archer is still way funnier and infinitely better written than 99% of shows currently on the air. I tried to like Moonbeam City but after the first episode I never even cracked a smile. Archer is one of the few shows that is guaranteed to make anyone laugh out loud - especially if you pay attention to all the references.

reply

I disagree. I've watched Archer and either fall asleep or change the channel.
Moonbeam City on the other hand...because I assumed it would be another Archer or Bob's Burger, I tried to avoid watching it. After deciding to give it a shot, while waiting for the next show, I can honestly say, it's a clever, odd & grabbed my attention. It's no South Park or American Dad, but it definitely deserves to stay on the air with its hilarious episodic visualizations! Van Groff was a hilarious villain.

I hope it hangs in there.

reply

If I had the choice between watching this and My Little Pony, I'd take MLP 10/10.

Sucks to be you lol!

You seem to think archer is so original...You do realize archer is just a futurama character template with a different backdrop right? Bumbling employee (Archer/Fry) whose relative is head of some group (Prof./Mallory) with a sometimes love interest and general heroic female character (Lana/lela, who btw are basically the exact same character, even in name) If anything Archer is more like futurama than Moonbeam is like Archer.

reply

Archer is virtually a retooled 'Frisky Dingo'. All 3 shows are funny to me.

reply

i do see a few similar character traits between sterling archer and dazzle novak. but between archer(show) and moonbeam city as a whole, not a damn thing, maybe its just me.
