All actors in this movie have failed their career.

Fact.

I see the actor of the once famous show Malcolm.
The actor of the once famous show 90210.
The actress of the once famous movie American Pie.

What happened?

reply

I bet all 3 of these people have more money than you.

reply

I wouldn't exactly call these people failures. What are the other people of 90210, American Pie, Baywatch and Malcom in the Middle doing now? (Aside from Brian Cranston)

reply

I get the feeling they wanted to be a part of this movie, it wasn't for the paycheck or anything.

reply

Just because a career doesn't last until the traditional retirement age or until death doesn't mean it "failed". Failure is attempting to meet a specific goal and not being able to achieve it. Do you have first hand knowledge that these people all aspired to do anything besides exactly what they've done?

reply

At this point in the Sharknado series, most people know its a joke and the actors are gladly in on it, regardless of how their career has turned. The cast of the Today show, for instance, are still on the air. David Hasselhoff has been known to make fun of his own career (see the Spongebob Movie). Likewise with Jerry Springer.

Many former people myself included, I was once a reporter for local and regional TV sports, find other careers off camera like producing, writing or directing which are just as fulfilling than being in front of the camera. I went from covering major college and pro sports to making videos for state government. Is it as exciting? No. Is it as fulfilling? Yes. I have paid vacation, full benefits and time with my family.

Like it or not, these movies are extremely popular. I bet there's plenty of out of work actors who'd love be appearing in Sharknado movies. Even if it was only in one of them, you'd know that it's going to get a lot of viewers, and a lot of people are going to see you in this movie. It gets your name and face out there.

If you were one of the actors who'd been in it from the start, you've been filming one of these a year. So they're at least getting work.

It's not meant to be Shakespeare, and the actors starring the films know that. If you were an actor who had ambitions of starring only in Oscar worthy material, then yes. You've failed. If you got into acting to star in popular movies that lots of people watch, then how is doing so a failure?

Well, Frankie Muniz kinda stopped acting after Malcolm (personal reasons, joined a band I think) so I don'think he takes his acting career seriously anymore.

Plus, why would he when the Malcolm syndication money is still rolling in.
