Don't get me wrong... I thought the movie was great and enjoyed every second of it. BUT did anyone else think that the movie was just not funny? It's like they tried way too hard to be funny but like a lot of comedy movies, they failed.

I do agree th hat much of the humor in this film falls flat. If the movie works, it's more as an emotional drama than as an action-comedy like the first.

Flash forward to now: obvious trolls and this being the OPโs only post aside, some genuinely silly and petty criticisms up here. Boomers with sticks up their butt kinda criticism, ya know (seeing a lot of this from J-mon in other Marvel boards as well, smh).
It was a stupid movie trying to be funny..most of the Marvel Movies are turning into all out comedies .....๐๐๐
shareI totally agree. Almost nothing that was supposed to be funny in this one was funny to me. My eyes were rolling very frequently. The two absolute biggest offenders in this were the Baby Groot retrieving Yondu's fin scene, and the "does anyone have any tape?" scene. Absolute absurdity. First two things Groot brings back instead of the fin was enough. When he brings back the desk, I was ready to shut the movie off. Same with the tape scene. Too long and drawn out. They go far beyond the lengths they need to, and the joke gets old right away. Other examples- I understand the point of the Taserface name being a dumb name, but that's just it... It was dumb. Not funny. "I'm Mary Poppins, y'all" is stupid. The part where Rocket, Yondu, and that buddy of Yondu's that no one cares about are doing 700 jumps to get to Ego's planet and their faces are all distorted is some shit I'd expect to see in a Spy Kids movie or something dumb like that. Turning Drax from being funny simply due to his misunderstanding of things, to being an absolute raging buffoon was a terrible disservice to the character. Honestly just too much more to list.

You are very mistaken. The baby boomers are in their mid 50s - mid 70s right now, and they are definitely heavily into social media, but possibly not the social media you use. I'm sure you can admit that obviously people in their 50s and 60s are plentiful, and obviously not "mostly dead" as you claimed (there are about 72 million still alive,fyi).

shareThe only reason why the Guardians Of The Galaxy series is hugely popular is not only is it funny but it's a marketing genius to sell toys and other merchandise. Take for instance when Guardians Of The Galaxy came out the popular character was Baby Groot and when Christmas came Baby Groot merchandise sold out virtually everywhere and the second and third popular characters were Rocket and Star Lord and you always find Star Lord toys and plush dolls and Rocket plush dolls but Gamora and Drax never get any attention in merchandise but everywhere you see Guardians Of The Galaxy merchandise it's always Star Lord this Baby Groot that Rocket everywhere while Gamora and Drax are left in the dust. But hopefully when the third sequel is released Gamora and Drax are the stars of the merchandise
