Not seen it yet - but I thought exactly the same thing when I read the plot synopsis. Certainly sounds similar!

Not at all. I liked The Forest. This is pure crap. Story is not similar except for the obvious sister-travelling-to-Asian-country-to-find-out-what-happened-to-dead-sister plot line.
