Reminds me of Running on Empty

It is easy to compare this film to Captain Fantastic and there are similarities. However, I kept coming back to Running on Empty which starred River Phoenix. A family unit that survives by living outside society, ready to move at a moment's notice. Everything is fine until that unit comes in contact with the rest of society. In this film, the daughter Tom, begins to feel the yearning for stability and social interaction. The scene with rabbit was a key scene as Tom, met other teenagers and she enjoyed playing with the creatures. Will needs isolation from the world, as Tom grows older, she knows that she was to be part of a community. It is painful to watch, but the parent has to let their child find their own way in the world.

I thought she bein a gurl is fittin. Weak and succumbed 2 societal luxuriez.

I know in film they made out like daddy has issuez but in grand scheme of thingz he is correct, happiness is not dependent on such societal contrivancez. Bein 1 wid nature and peace of mind is all we really need.

So you would be fine creating a "shelter" for your child that basically consists of leaves?

Dis is a grate movie. Recall child in movie had no issue initially. It wuz only when she had taste of livin in houz she then complainz.

Dis is a vicious cycle. Bec a person livin in a mansion wud complain if she suddenly had 2 scale back and live in a small apt. Our appetitez r insatiable.

No, people are social by nature. He trained her most her life to hide from other people. What she felt when she was around others is natural. He was PTSD, which caused him to he antisocial. He only interacted with the outside when he had to.

Sez who? Many ppl choose 2 live as hermitz and r totally fine. Again, in movie they made him wid disorder so I wuz disappointed.

It is rare for people to go full hermit by choice. They will eventually go feral without human contact. For children, the effects can be permanent because social interaction is required for their development.

I can see that. Both are excellent films. I haven’t seen “Captain Fantastic”, although I’m curious to do so now that people are comparing it with this. I also need to go back and see “Winter’s Bone”.

Also with the bees. She sees they work together and earning their trust is a big deal.

She didn't need to go to public school or live among people to become socialized. She interacted with the two teenage girls and the people at the trailer camp just fine. She was ahead of her peers academically as a result of her father's home schooling.
