Heard around the world??? Are you serious??

Unless Warner Brothers thinks that California is the world, this got little coverage in Europe. You have got to be kidding me.

Some of the posters here have pointed out the over-the-top hollywoodization of this one particular make-a-wish request. There have been hundred other requests that feature dying children that haven't been publicised this way. Why this one then?

reply

Clearly you haven't seen the movie.

When one of the volunteers involved in the origianlly-low-scale wish tweeted about the case, it went viral, and in fact the movie shows many, many articles from around the world of people who heard about it and wanted to be involved, or at least share the story.

The story here is not so much about the child, but about the reaction from so many people who heard about it and wanted to be part of this as it got bigger and bigger.

Of course I haven't seen it. And it will remain that way. While I have nothing against the events that took place to make this wish, I question why WB is attempting to profit from this? They are surely not saints for wanting to contribute every cent earned from this to Charity. Of course, Batman is owned by DC comics that is in turn owned by WB. For all we know, this movie is a not-so-subliminal effort to steer a simple make-a-wish-event into a global PR scheme to promote 'Gotham' 'Batman Vs Superman' and other Batman projects in the pipeline. It's a clever marketing gimmick to target a strong global customer base of children 5-10 so they can get their parents to buy them Batman toys.

It was over the top indeed. Im from Southamerica, and here, it was just a small piece of a story in the regular everyday newspaper.

And the fact they made a movie about this, its just to keep milking this cow until it gets dry or until they get a new kid to market to the stupid audiences.

reply

I'm from Tver, Russia and I know the story. Not enough?

My question is why so serious? Funny how people get so worked up over it. I've seen RDJ and Chris Evans meet with sickly kids as their superhero characters.
