Great premise, terrific acting & directing but ending seemed rush

I know this was originally rated R and was more about sex/rape as Brahms sought and stalked her and I'm glad that was cut since it really wasn't needed.

The film has a great look, acting, creep premise but the ending seems rushed.

She kills Brahms, helps Malcolm out of the house, they drive away...then we seem Brahms repairing the doll. Of course, Brahms was almost dead so we have no idea how he survived the stabbing, but it just seemed a very "flat" ending to me.

I don't think that I minded the ending as much as you, but I agree that it feels a little rushed and flat.

The reveal of Brahms coming out of the wall is the best moment in the movie and the most memorable, I think. But because he hasn't really been present in the movie he doesn't amount to much more than a monster-type figure and what was a more psychological horror becomes about physical survival.

The thing of him being alive and gluing the doll back together is just stupid, in my opinion. "It's over . . . . or IS IT?!?!?!?" endings are like my least favorite endings.

Yeah, gluing the doll seemed very tacked on--even the scene of them driving away and she has that awkward "smile" -- like, "WE MADE IT!" -- was just a weird shot.
