Story loses cred at outset: Marianas Trench/Atlantic

Rarely do I nitpick animation or sci-fi or what have you for the details. But this movie starts with a pretty big one:

Marianas trench is in the Western Pacific Ocean. As we know, it's deep - like 30,000+ feet deep. The captain of the submarine says, "investigating an SOS beacon in the middle of the Atlantic." The initial blurb says they are in the Marianas...this doesn't speak to quality of line editing.

And since Atlantis is the subject..let's not try to introduced the story out in the Pacific.

That's all.

Nothing wrong with a deep trench in the vicinity of Atlantis, but let's not mix it up with real-world geography.

"There are older and fouler things than Orcs in the deep places of the world." - Gandalf

Such a lame excuse, why do people insist on this? Especially when the Trevor character correctly states the trench is in the Pacific 5 minutes later!

It's obviously a mistake that somehow eluded the editors. How, I can't tell you because it is right there at the beginning of the friggin movie.
