Could have been genuinely funny.

COULD have been.

I didn't expect anything from this flick, based on the title, but at the 6 minute mark I was actually drawn into it and surprised at how genuinely engaging it was. Totally low-budget, but funny and the lead actor is terrific.

Sadly, then the "assassin" made his appearance, and that was the end. I won't blame the actor because maybe it was the director's idea, but they made him so over-the-top ridiculous that the movie just instantly fell apart.

Too bad, because there were many more excellent moments later on (I FF'd through the film a little, curious due to the excellent beginning) but every scene with the killer was like watching a bad SNL skit. (A REALLY bad one, where they make fun of some movie or TV show.)

If the "killer" had been played straight, this might have been a seriously entertaining film. Maybe they can get some backing, and re-cut all of his scenes, before too many people see this version.

You haven't seen the original webseries Youtube Assassin? It was amazing. Haven't seen this film yet, just bought it, but I've waited for it for years. Bob Thunder sure is over the top, but he's hilarious still.

Nope, never saw it.

Regardless, a movie has to stand on its own merits. Sometimes what works in a short skit fails badly in a movie. (Look at all the bad SNL spin-off movies.)

I'm sure there are some who will still find this movie funny, but I wouldn't want to know any of them personally.

I feel bad for the crew, because there was obviously some serious effort & talent here. It really could have worked and had broad appeal.

Yeah, I found it funny. It wasn't as good as I was expecting, it dragged a bit and some jokes didn't work. But it was good for a debut film. And the cinematography was amazing, but that was expected, as Joe Nation's videos always look spectacular.
