Are the hosts practicing what they are preaching?

I.e. are they themselves living in these glorified shoeboxes?

I am seriously thinking about it myself..

May I ask why you are thinking about it?

Some of the things they come up with to use space in multiple ways are indeed ingenious but I only see a benefit in that if you naturally have limited space:
- small apartments where space is limited in densely populated cities like Manhattan
- college dorms, especially freshmen dorms are really cramped
- when you want/need to travel but then something like an RV is more useful. It is already designed to be mobile (with slideouts in more fancy versions) and the vehicle is designed to be able to pull the weight of the RV.

What I see a lot on these shows is that they put those houses on outskirts of towns where there is plenty of space and no real need to go tiny. Also, they usually end up with things that are too big/heavy to be truly mobile but too small to live in comfortably. I.e. they end up in no-man's land.

The last episode I saw from a week or two ago had the hosts and the general contractor (I think) pulling the tiny house up a hill in the outskirts of San Diego/Southern California.

They couldn't get it up the hill and almost blew out the entire car getting it up the hill and had to call in another vehicle to help bring it up the last few feet. It will never move more than a few feet without having to get a specialty tow that will probably cost them a lot of money.

That thing was NOT mobile.

No, not the mind probe!
