How did Janine fit into the group? *Spoilers*

Rob and James were best friends, as were Tina and Annie. Rob and Tina were dating, Tina had known Cal growing up and from the stables and they had all been close to Ruth but did they ever go into detail about Janine?

She didn't grow up with them as they didn't know her real identity and though they were initially all portrayed as being close, we didn't see them react to her death or that it was caused by someone else they had known well growing up.
