But what about the dark thing in the sky?

This movie was too weird not to like. What hooked me was the feeling that I knew it was all going to come together and I became very curious about how.

What I am wondering about is (Spoiler:)
What was that "Dark spot in the sky" thing? I got the strong feeling throughout the film that Aliens were among us and had an important role to play with the overall story. Like the characters were being watched by some external, malignant force.

Anyone agree? Did I miss something?

Seems to me it was just another thing the director added for us to mull over. Another mystery.

I don't think your interpretation is plausible, but I don't have anything better to suggest.

It's symbolic. Basically, everyone who sees it is going to die.
