I went to a backer preview showing of this here are my thoughts

Somebody I know invited me to a kickerstarted? Gogo whatever preview showing of this the other day. Before I say anything, it was an awesome gesture and I'd certainly try it again. I'm very appreciative of the opportunity. Great person. Thank you.

All that said, man I goddamn hate fans. Of anything really. I mean seriously when youre a crazed nazi about anything you like, you literally ruin it for anyone else. Am I ever going to watch Doctor Who? Not now that you've made it a lifestyle and mushed it into my face.

The movie for what its worth was actually pretty funny. It wasn't perfect but it wasn't that groan worthy comedy you'd bypass when you hear Kevin Hart or Adam sandler are involved. It was pretty witty for the most part and if I were to take any points away it would be for the kind of over the top silliness that can at times run too long.

Despite all that the movie was just an awful experience. I vaguely know Roosterteeth from Red Vs Blue back in the day but I guess now like everything else on the internet its grown into this domain of obnoxious geek meme culture( A parody inside of a parody inside of a parody replayed on a youtube channel. Please subscribe.). Every 5 seconds or so someone or something Internet personality related would show up on screen and the entire audience would just have this woop woop meltdown of applause/laughter/fangirling. So more often than not when the joke is happening I couldn't even hear it and had no idea why we were supposed to be seizuring . I spent the whole movie trying to ignore everyone in the theater long enough to hear what was going on.

I'd like to call myself a massive Star Wars fan. I own every version of the films ever printed. I've seen them all thousands of times. I have an assortment of Fan edits. Posters t-shirt toys etc and I yet had a similar experience with the prequels and force awakens in theaters. There's no concept of quality with "FANS". Everything related to something you get attached to is the best ever and you will hoot and holler every damn time a light saber is lit up. These are the kind of people that ruin anything normal people just want to enjoy. If you roared and applauded when Yoda took out his lightsaber I hope you die horribly in a fire. Thats all I'm saying.

What I mean by this post is, dude if you like something and want other people to like it too, don't be obnoxious about it. Settle down. Please.
(again my friend was very polite, it's the audience I'm directing this too.)

...and you kids get off my lawn!

Seriously though, I wholeheartedly agree with you, about the "fan" thing. It IS short for fanatic, of course, so perhaps one shouldn't be surprised. I have no idea who any of the people involved in this production are, but the Star Wars thing I recognise completely.

Also, I have a big problem with people who declare themselves a fan of a genre, if it means they'll watch/read pretty much anything within that general category that comes out. I've always had a special affection for sci-fi and fantasy myself, but I realize there's actually only a very few things I truly love from those genres, and even fewer I would recommend to "normal" people. If there's one thing I won't trust, it's a review of a horror/sci-fi/fantasy movie or book by someone who's devoured 200+ of them so far this year. I've found the odds of them having the same criteria as me for enjoying it are rather slim... 

IMDb-boards would be less confusing if people would mark their signatures clearly.

I found this comment to be hilarious (probably funnier than the movie if what I'm reading on this board is true). I agree with you about this fan craze thing, some of it is ridiculous and bordering on insanity. That said though, don't let some obssessive fans ruin a show you may want to watch.

So wait, you go to events where you know there's going to be hardcore fans and then you sit there and shake your fist at them? Come on, man! I was the +1 for this movie, too, but who died and gave you their front porch rocker and cane? Get over yourself! One day you're going to be excited about something that's important to you and some douche is going to sit there and be all "settle down, please." And it will happen, because that's how excitement works.

You could go see your favorite movies on non-opening nights like the rest of us who don't enjoy rowdy crowds, and believe it or not I'm more in your camp than not. I've never not been able to hear the dialog in a movie unless I went on opening night or during the first week, you know--when the crazies are out. Don't like that option and/or don't feel like you should have to alter your plans for other people? Then stop looking down your nose and telling others to change for you. Fans are out there, get over it, and frankly they don't really care if you watch their whatever-show or play their whatever-game or not.
