A poor mans version of "The Gift."

If you really want to see a quality thriller go see "The Gift" instead. Don't just take my word for it, compare the scores for this movie and "The Gift" yourself at any site you want.

The Gift was great. Perfect little film.

I don't understand comparing these films considering they are two totally different movies with two totally different plots and different target audiences. Sure both thriller...but of a different caliber. That's like saying "you should go see The Visit instead of Sinister 2 because it's more MY kind of horror".

reply

They're both similar in plot and they're both the same genre. It's actually a completely fair comparison. You could even argue that "The Gift" is better on a technical scale which covers more than just a subjective opinion.

The obsessed stalker aspect is really the only thing that the two films have in common. Otherwise, the plot and it's characters are entirely different.

Hardly comparable.

Hope changes everything.

Which one's better?

BUGS

The gift was slightly better, but I wouldn't call this a poor man's version. They were both psychological thrillers... but that's about it.

reply

They are two completely different movies. The Perfect Guy is a traditional 'psycho/bunny boiler' thriller, whereas The Gift is a revenge thriller. If anything, this movie is a poor man's version of Reese Witherspoon's Fear.

This film grossed almost 3 times as much as Fear, and outgrossed The Gift by almost 15 million. How can it possibly be a poor man's version of either film.

reply

Ha! Funny you mention the gift in reference to the perfect guy because i just rented both from redbox last night and i enjoyed both films equally.

It's nothing like THE GIFT... The Gift however is better
