Where's Ellen?

Not a judge, not giving suggestions or pep talk to contestants during their build.
Probably not even present in studio.

Name value only? Of course it's just a formulaic elimination contest.

My thoughts exactly. We don't have cable so I didn't see this last year or even know about it. We have Sling which is streaming live tv and I enjoy watching this channel.
I'm a big Ellen fan and was excited to see this. It's a disappointment. She only came on for a moment and then was gone.

She pops in every now and then

I don't think Ellen considers herself qualified to judge the furniture. She got some excellent judges in there and that is their job. She also has her own TV show that airs every day and many other ongoing projects. I think maybe she put up the money for the show or it was her idea, I don't miss her that much because the show is really about furniture building and that is the interesting part of the show, not Ellen and her comedy routine.

It was the same last year. I was very disappointed that she didn't play a bigger role in the episodes, considering her name is all over this.

Last year Spike TV had a similar furniture design competition show that was promoted by actor Common. He served as host/moderator and judge. He was there through the entire process, and I actually liked his show better.

"Name value only" is my opinion. Geez, it's like she's in the promos more than the actual show!

I hadn't really paid much attention to the intro until tonight and I had to chuckle at the line "And all of this was under the watchful eye of Ellen..."

After what happened after last season's finale and then all the uproar of unfair eliminations and Sef's "cheating" and the social media backlash, it sounds like Ellen needs to pay closer attention.
