Is there anyone else out there frustrated by the show's writers?
I know that it's been pretty much the same for years now, but I just had to finally write about my own frustration.
Do these actors get paid to walk up on stage among their peers to strike out in meaningless and often ill-conceived jokes written probably by a hapless writer who just needs to fill a few seconds of time? Can't they come up with jokes that are more meaningful, layered and funny? This year, when they actually take questions from audience members (who were fed their lines prior to this), I ask myself what is the purpose of wasting our time?
Why can't they just care enough about writing for the Emmys as they might if they were seeking an actual Emmy Award? Stop the stupid lame jokes and give us something different. Yes, the Weird Al Yankovic sketch was the one-off stunt that they seem to do yearly, and this year it was a Yankovic take on theme songs. It was worth it compared to all the horrible jokes and uncomfortable brief conversations among the presents. So thee you have it folks.....just some simple thoughts from a TV watcher.
