So fake

It's so obvious the people telling their stories are just actors telling fictional, over-the-top tales. They always have the same over-dramatized expressions, sarcastic one liners, and witty comments when telling their stories. No one tells a true story of something that really happened to them like this in real life. It's also a funny coincidence that all of the already-over-the-top tales seem to have an added twist ending to every tale. The stories on this show seem to clearly be works of fiction.

The people on the show are all actors. The same people telling the stories are the actors in the story. Not sure if it's fiction or not though but some of it does seem to be though.

reply

Yeah, it is. It's just like My Haunted House with actors telling a fake story. Apparently they can legally mislead the audience in this way.

reply

What do you mean 'legally'? It's a tv show. It's not illegal to lie in real life, much less on a television show. But yes, the show is completely fake.

I'd hope so cause I would hate that there are people in real life as the dumbbell victims on this show.

Because they're misleading the viewer into believing it is something that it is not.

Yeah but there are some court shows on during the day that do the same thing.

It's still not illegal. You can't be arrested for it.

There's civil court as well as criminal court.

In what way are you being harmed, such that you'd have grounds to sue?

Most of the stories are probably fake, or at the very least very greatly exaggerated.

Most of them I could potentially see having happened at some point in time to some body out there.. Cheating, stalking, kidnapping, etc etc etc ... not a far stretch to assume these things happen to people.. Just not the people on this show.

I agree. no way are THIS MANY PEOPLE would be THIS gullible.

srsly, quite a few dating stories go well into the 'over a year mark' that is really weird.

people aren't THAT slick that otherwise competent and smart men and women would not have picked up on the weird-ness clues.

I am not talking about the ones where they are just starting, but day 6--?? what??? coming up on two years???? really????

more like: my special needs dating life.

Oh God. Fortune vomits on my eiderdown once more.

reply

You don't think that many people are gullible?
You'd be surprised.
I think we have more gullible people now in 2017 than we did in all the 90's combined. Maybe more.

reply

Yeah, the people narrating the stories are actors too, but the stories themselves have to be fake. I mean it's obvious that the people narrating the stories are actors just like the people doing the dramatizations, but I figured they just took an actual story someone submitted and had writers embellish it for more entertainment value pr something and that's why some of the stories sound way too ridiculous to me true and why they do the "Based on a true story" bit in the beginning. But I just looked at the LMN website and the website for the production company to see if there was a way to submit a story and I didn't see a place on either site. If there isn't a way to submit a story then where are they getting them from? Unless there is a website I don't know about to look then the stories are 100% completely made up.

I'll give the show credit for the creativity to make up all these stories though.

I'm erasing you and I'm happy!

On the show it says if you have a crazy ex story to tell go to mycrazyex.me but I haven't checked it out yet. So I'm not for sure if it's real or not. But most of these stories sound too over the top to be real. But entertaining never the less. I get a good laugh out of them.

reply

The disclaimer says it's based on true events which so I'm sure the writers made up about 90% of these stories.
