why not in America....

Watching from the US and I totally thought DNA forensics was perfected by American scientist... I guess all those CSI shows lied to me...

Lots of incredibly valuable forensic developments have come out of America - I'm thinking especially of the Body Farm work on decomposition in different environments and offender profiling - but yep, DNA fingerprinting was Jeffreys :)

I think the only true to life scientific technique to come from the CSI shows is that forensic people wear gloves. After that it's all dramatised lies etc for the purpose of entertainment.
All the findings, evidence and procedures are there purely to serve the story required. It always amazed me how one week a result could be returned in a couple of hours. But on another week the same test under the same circumstances can take much longer if they need to drag it out.

It's like U-571 movie is a total fake it was the British personnel from HMS Bulldog who first captured a naval Enigma machine (from U-110 in the North Atlantic in May 1941), months before the United States had even entered the war.

The USA shows do excellent job with the DNA even if a British Sir Alec jeffreys who found it.
