Too taboo to even discuss on IMDB?

** Apologies in advance for a long post but I feel like everyone is dancing around this or in denial **

So far the commentary I've seen is 'what's up with the gay?' or 'this is what happens post marriage' or 'why the fake penis?' or 'good but went 1 step too far'.

While I do agree with the aging marriage concept, I saw this more of an odd case of a character study of Adam Scott's character, which is penis size linked to male confidence. Let's be honest guys, dick size comes up a lot through our adolescent years to even the professional world (i.e. "ya wanna close that big sales deal? Go in there and swing that big dick around and show em whose boss")

Unless you're 1% of the male population whose pretty big, most men have been insecure with their penis size at some point in their life, middle school - highschool typically. Most men realize that they are fine and sex isn't just about 10 inch dicks and 38 double D's.

So put yourself in Scott's shoes and imagine never realizing that, and on top of that, knowing that you ARE way smaller than normal. This struggle affects every ounce of your manhood and confidence constantly insecure. You probably watch ALOT of porn and have a totally skewed sense of what sex is.

Now here's my attempt at rationalizing the ending which seems to have left many confused. All your life you hear about big dicks and think that's what women want. You're significant other constantly reassures you but you can't get over it. You end up wishing you had one. When you watch porn you end up focusing more on the pleasure you believe she's receiving from this big schlong. On top of that you think your wife wonders too and later on she confirms that she is curious. Add to the fact that you've both only slept with each other and it's amazing these two can even make it through a day mentally.

Now I'm not a gay man (not that there's anything wrong with that!) nor have an abnormally small penis (about 1 in 250 guys experience this abnormality) so I don't know whether to classify this as 'gay'. Maybe bi? (Lol) With a lifetime of shame Scott becomes fixiated on big dicks and the alpha dominance they perceive to have and become attracted to that persona. The 'manly man' that he can never be.

In the end, Scott finally sees one in real life and with the opportunity presenting itself and with a self revaluation he let's go of everything he knows and takes the opportunity to touch it. Knowing that the love of his life wonders too, is willing to share the experience with her as well out of respect for her (remember they have only slept with each other and know nothing else)

For me the movie falls flat after this. Filmmakers were probably scared off by the notion of a film condoning indefinitely, however, with an odd chain of events and obscure the movie developed quite well to show the birth of swinging or more accurately 'cuckolding'. Taboo sure, but we all know what swinging means which also means that while taboo it is practiced by couples.

It's too bad because the way it ends makes everything more confusing to someone watching this movie that's already way weirded out. We don't get any of the after thoughts, more so, this was a freak occurrence and just get some counseling and you'll be fine. Too bad. Maybe this was the answer for these two outside or the box couples. Hey they exist (apparently)

Thanks for reading thoughts and comments appreciated just wondering if anyone else was able to see beyond the fake dicks gay vibes and offbeat style of storytelling (I laughed hysterically when they put on her nipple pump video. Did NOT see that coming. Where do you think that up!? Classic)
