myth or correct

I heard that there is sections of beach in Denmark where there is still landmines. is that a myth or correct?

I know we still have a lot of mines in the ocean.

Honestly, there were so many land mines planted during WWII, they are constantly finding them. If the beach has been cleared for use by the public, it is deemed that all of them have been safely removed. If you ever come across an area with signs (which I don't believe there are), you know there is still a clear and present danger.

thanks, I just read an interesting news from 2012

the last landmine should have been removed in 2012.

I translated the news to English with google translate ::

Denmark has been declared free of mines. For the country's very last minefield on the peninsula Skallingen west of Esbjerg is now declared to be cleared.

However, there is one mine back, but it gets blown up Thursday by Transport Minister Henrik Dam Kristensen (S) to highlight that the goal is reached.

"Denmark has a great tradition of support by different mine action projects around the world, and therefore it is gratifying that we have now ensured that all minefields on Danish soil is removed forever," said the minister.

Coastal Authority has since spring 2006 to spring 2012 minutely examined area beaches and dunes for the last remnants of the more than 72,000 mines that the Germans placed on Skallingen as a defense against an invasion from the west.

During the clearing were found approximately 8000 mines or mine parts. Some of the mines were so dangerous that they were blown up on the spot.

Alone under the grubbing final stage, there are over one and a half year found about 100 mines or mine parts a day.

Germans put 1.4 million mines
With disregard the bursting of the last mine, Denmark has complied with its international obligations under the Ottawa Convention, which Denmark and several other countries have committed themselves to a complete destruction of dangerous minefields on their territories.

Otherwise, it was supposed that Denmark should have completed the work in 2009, but the deadline was extended.

"I am very pleased that Denmark has been able to keep this very important convention," said Henrik Dam Kristensen.

The mines at Skallingen has previously attracted unfortunate attention when a German tourist found a mine on a beach on the part of the area which had already been declared mine-free.

In total, zoned 1.4 million mines on the west coast during the German occupation.

Very interesting. Thanks for that information. Did you get a chance to see this film? What were your thoughts?

reply

I think it was a solid film, maybe not the best film I have seen but I didn't know about the history about the landmines and that makes the movie a bit better.
I rated it 8/10.
I think it is solid acting, and the young germen react the way you could expect to the scary work they had to do.

rewatch value/or not: I don't have the need to watch it again but I thought about the movie afterwards. So I think it is movie you watch once. but you do not forget.
