Ahead of its time

I like the show it has some interesting things on it but the repeated phrase "Ahead of its time" really gets on my nerves,its a dumb statement because how the hell can you say ahead of their time when they've developed it(whatever it is) to be truly fair its not that they were ahead but that we are behind because we've caught up with them ..
