Why weren't the police involved?

If this had taken place in Britain, the cops would have had a field day, rounding up all the kids and investigating them to within an inch of their lives. And their parents, too, most likely. Most of the kids, and possibly the parents, would have been prosecuted for aiding and abetting the posting of child abuse images online, and the ringleader, whose mother was absent, would have been jailed or sent to juvi for encouraging such sexual deviance for his own personal enjoyment.

Instead, at no time did a single police officer or social worker appear to get involved, and the parents, too, while a little angry, didn't seem all that bothered. Is this the way life is in France, or was the writer/director taking poetic licence?

I found it all rather unbelievable.

It's cinema, not reality.
