Am I the only one who thought this? (Spoilers)

Due to the gender identity of the protagonist, I'll be using she/her pronouns.

I've seen a few reviews around, but a lot of people seem to think the ending means she gave up the idea of living as a woman? Which I don't understand.........

I thought that all those part of the end; her seeing the woman who styled her (or at least I'm fairly certain that was her), the close up of the card the girl was holding of the man's shoe pointing toward the woman's shoe, and ultimately her raising her pinky at the end, all meant she wasn't going to give up seeking the reassignment surgery.

And personally, I don't see why we shouldn't believe instead that it was just delayed, or maybe until that moment she thought she'd try living as a man, before she gives in to the old habit of raising her pinky because she realizes she can't suppress who she is.

The "new beginning" is an old trope, and always means something better in the future we don't get to see after all.

Just my two cents, anyway!
