This movie is really bad. And not even funny bad.

Tl;Dr - just don't, it is a waste of your time, no matter how low your standards are

If you want to watch an hour of obnoxious Irish college kids setting up boring horror tropes and then running around the house screeching, this movie is for you. The bad acting once things get "scary" (and it's an hour of no-scare intro first) is the only scary thing about the last half hour of this movie.

Because the first hour just consists of a bunch of generally unlikable "college kids" going down the horror checklist: come upon strange location? Check! Talk about the place's horrifying history? Check! Play with an Ouija board? Check! Visit a graveyard in the dark? Check! Film each other having sex? Check. Because what is a bad horror movie without unnecessary sex and nudity?

Then come the ghosts - finally - after an hour of snooze-worthy buildup. I'd get a chance to find the ghost scary, if it wasn't for the TERRIBLE acting overshadowing it too much to care anymore. Especially the girls are absolutely ridiculous. The overacting is painful to watch. The screeching! To the point where you're pretty sure they'd screech at the top of their lungs even if they were presented with a kitten.

Which brings you to the trope - check - of the helpless females, who try very hard to look even more hopeless than the dopey, too-cool-to-respond boys.

This movie is an insult to anyone spending their time watching it. Do yourself a favour - don't watch it. Even I like the occasional BAD horror movie, but this one is just pathetic.

I bet you loved Grave Encounters

GE was better than this.

I read this in a chola accent.

The dialogue had to be improvised right? And they told the girls to make sure there isn't one second of silence? They never stopped chattering.

reply

They couldn't even afford to get a real ouija board

reply

lmfao right. They used cut up pieces of paper. Like damn was the budget that low couldnt even make a makeshift semi-believable board?

I read this in a chola accent.

ROFLMAO

It was pretty awful, and it wasn't just the budget holding it back. It was the writing and acting that hurt it the most. Just a home video of annoying teens for the first 60 minutes basically. Very boring and forgettable.

I agree completely. The only reason I even watched the whole thing was to get it out of my "continue watching" portion of Netflix. Just awful.

Question, in the hope anyone might still visit this topic: Is the whole thing "found footage"? I don't mind it being terrible, mocking a bad horror can be half the fun sometimes, but the camera techniques in the genre give me motion sickness. If it's only like ten, twenty minutes like that, it'll be fine. The whole movie done that way though, I should skip it in that case.

"But... what about the relevant conundrum?"

reply

The whole thing was awful "shaky cam" footage that was "found" but in the least believable or entertaining story possible. You can skip the entire first hour and not miss anything. There is nothing to miss and even the last few minutes are a bore when the ghost shows up.

Trivia says it was shot in 3 days and it clearly shows.
