Why Do These 2 French Brothers Never Speak French To Each Other ?

This just seems impossible to believe. If my sister and me visited Paris, I simply can't imagine we'd only communicate in a second language even when alone. It comes across as contrived and plenty in those first two episodes as stretching to be quirky. No more for me.

They don't speak French for many different reasons but to satisfy your curiousity, 1) they don't speak French because this story is set in LONDON and they're not FRENCH (as in from FRANCE), they're from LONDON with family history that goes back to FRANCE. English is their first and second language. Now, if that's the only reason (as small as it is) you're not watching the show, you're missing out because this is clearly a very intriguing series. Happy Viewing, have a good one.

No, I'm pretty sure they grew up in France for quite a long time. The childhood scenes are the only times they speak French. But i do understand that they speak French nearly everywhere so I guess that they may not be 'from France'. Plus I swear Jean has been living London but only for like 20 years or something like that. That's why his brothers accent is stronger, because he only came to London recently... They aren't from London.

But i do agree, people who focus on *beep* like this aren't fully embracing the series story. It's an amazing plot if you actually sit down and take the time to
actually pay attention.

Plus, if they did speak French, then we'd have to have subtitles and subtitles aren't as immersive as actual human speech. They chose to not make then speak in French so you can relate to them better.(It's one of the reasons I can't stand subtitled films but can stand English dubbed films)

They speak french in the flashbacks as kids.

You can call me 'Mayor Chapstick.'

We should probably imagine they're speaking French to each other when alone. Because it's an English language TV show, they can speak English and we won't need subtitles. But they might have decided to make English their primary language.

My sister's husband's family is from Chile and they all speak English to each other, even in private, because they've chosen to make English their primary language.

That discussion is sooo stupid! Did you watch Doctor Jivago? or the series ROME? omg, they ALL spoke english, how can it be? Licence its called.

One of the worst excuses I've ever heard not to watch a show.

Not only the brothers but also the thugs that follow the older brother from France speak English among themselves. This is not realistic of course, but not a big deal.
