update after watching: This was anything but a typical Lifetime movie, in fact I can just imagine how many typical viewers are complaining about the graphic details. WTG, Lifetime, now KUTGW.
Yeah I can't get past that. Most of the movies on life time suck ass. My mother used to watch those "empower " women stories and this one I guess kind of Fits that theme but they will defang the story
I agree, they're improving. It can fit the MEN WILL HURT YOU BECAUSE THIS IS LIFETIME model and still be good, as was King's original story. He's one of the rare male writers who can really get into a woman's headspace, and if they fully use that, this should be, well, their best production yet. The story was revelatory, and terrifying (on many different levels and for a variety of reasons), and should lend itself well to a visual medium.
My book club was discussing King recently and we all agreed that he has always done a fairly poor job at writing from a women's perspective... But everyone has their own opinion... The short story itself was pretty good and the trailers are exceptionally well made... Doesn't even look like a typical 'Lifetime' film...
It's good to see a thread about exactly what I was thinking..Such a riveting story...and Full Dark, No Stars was my favorite by King in a long, long time.
I'll give it a chance as well..Maybe Lifetime is trying to make a change and become a little less of a formula channel. It was too good a story not to check out.
It does follow the Lifetime habit of women in peril but it's hard for me to imagine Maria Bello giving up all her snark.
By the way...has anyone noticed that there appears to be a theatrical version of the same King story and with the same name?
