Ah cool, thanks for sharing.

So it's a comedy follow-up to AvP:R.

I think I'll pass, sadly.

reply

You're welcome, yep it looks a bit shit.

reply

I wouldn't say that it looks shit, but it didn't get me excited either. I still want to stay optimistic and believe that Shane Black delivers a good predator film.

reply

Hopefully the final product will be better than the trailer suggests.🤞

reply

I don't know. It looked to be like a more violent version of transformers complete with wise cracking military people and apparently child actors. :/ Its rated R but it looks to be a soft R due to the blood. I don't I'm hoping its better. The trailer makes it look like a Micheal bay action movie more then a horror monster movie. I'm not trashing bay films I was just hoping for a more emersive horror movie for this latest predator.

reply

I get what you're saying and I do agree on most points. I don't mind the wise cracking military people, I mean there was plenty of that in the original Predator and in the sequel too. I still hope the movie will be better than what it looks like by this trailer.

I'll end up seeing it either way but fingers crossed. I just want to see people reacting with the same level of dread and fear we usually saw with the earlier predator films. I'm going to be cringing if I hear smart as one linears directored towards the predator as if the sense of danger isn't present. Yes we got some one liners from the first films but they were usually do to panic and shock rather then smartassness. Danny Glovers lines were delivered out of shock or rage rather then the nonchalant chatter you get from casts nowdays.

I think its the uncooperative smugness that really gets to me about the military guy as well as the monitoring agents that gets me. Like can they at least pretend that encountering an alien species is kind of a big deal.

This could take an intersecting direction. I’m intrigued.

Whether it ends up being another unnecessary and weak effort in the franchise or not, I shall keep an open mind. You know, unlike many high and mighty boom boom babies and GenX’ers who were planning on trashing this movie way before a teaser/trailer or the movie itself was released. While it’s not the most impressive teaser, criticizing every aspect of it (“what? Iron Man 3?!? Black has actually done real films made for adults! Agh, this looks like every other pos modern movie I hate so much! A f’n kid?! Grrr millennials!”) is something I can already see being under way. And it’s done just for the sake of it, lol.

Anyway, it’s too early to tell but this might be the best one since the original. Hopefully. I’ll gladly give it a chance (one of the very few on the internet willing to, oh no big deal).

reply

Gawd this looks bad, AvP:R bad!

reply

There's no excitement coming from this. Feels like some generic action bullshit.

reply

Yep, looks shite but I'm happy to see I'm not alone in this assessment. Pretty sure fans of this series don't want kids, they don't want wise cracking jock-types, they want a big fucking alien ripping spinal columns out. I don't see why that would be so hard to deliver?

But Shane Black is a fantastic writer so I'd be surprised if there wasn't at least something of worth here.

reply

Hopefully Shane Black is trolling us and hired an imbecile to cut the trailer.

reply

Even if it's a good movie it's gonna be a shit Predator film.

reply

That was a really bad trailer. I'm not sure why studios keep thinking the predator franchise is a big money maker. It's a niche of a niche. They should focus on making a good low budget horror film with it and settle for the profit that brings. What I just saw was so generic it could have been anything, the predator seemed out of place.
