Yes - despite the importance of the story, the care taken to tell it, and some good acting, I found the movie kind of of clumsy and overwraught and full of cliches. It seemed to me that all the tantrums and outrage and angst of the hero actually lessened the movie's emotional impact.

I do kind of agree. The plot was mostly engaging, if somewhat superficially told, but the love story felt forced in to pad out the running time. It’s an important story that deserves to be told but I would want a stronger film than this to do it justice.
