Are you suppose to like the main characters?

Sorry i dont care what they use to film this but it doesnt deserve the 7.0 rating the two main girls are so unlikeable and the story is a joke but what really makes me lol is the kidnapping and abuse towards the blonde genetic girl who the hell thought that would seem ok.

Just because they're the main characters, doesn't mean you have to agree with every thing they do. People are more complex than that, the film is more of a character study than a story of heroes and villains.

I did find Cindy's voice and attitude annoying and was not looking forward to having to watch an entire movie about her when Alexandria walks off early on, but luckily it gives equal time to all three main characters.

Alexandria was my favourite, a real star in the making.

It was interesting to see the taxi driver at home with his family, meanwhile the street walkers are doing nothing but walk the streets. We never see them in a domestic environment. We watch Dinah trudge all the way back to the 'party room' at the motel and when she is turned away, you realise that was the closest thing she had to home.

And there are plenty of touching moments, like how Cindy cleans up Dinah and puts some lipstick on her, plus the ending where Cindy is revealed to be vulnerable and finally reaches out to Alexandria after a touching gesture on her part...I teared up a bit.

A really, really good movie. Not great but worth watching.

In Malick's Badlands the main characters were pretty despicable all throughout the movie.
I liked how the director here gave the characters more depth than I've usually seen in movies. They become likable slowly.
So glad I was able to find this.

Brother, you can believe in stones, as long as you don't throw them at me.

I think the blonde could have gotten away. She almost "agreed" that she should be dragged along, kind of like a kid who likes to be mildly picked on since he at least gets attention.

Not very feminist thing to say but don't go looking to this character for a role model.
