Why Goku Is Stronger Than Vegeta

There have been times in the series where they explained why Goku is stronger than Frieza. But, a reason I always thought is because Vegeta doesn't rest enough when in real life our bodies need rest to recuperate and get stronger. Not resting could put too much stress on your body. We see this with Vegeta when he was preparing for the Androids, and Cell.

Goku on the other hand is stronger, but rests a little too much. We clearly see this on his fight before Cell as after he exits the hyperbolic time chamber, they have like 5 episodes where we see Goku do nothing more than relaxing in his Super Saiyan Form.

This is a weakness explained by Whiss in the movie. Vegetal doesn't rest enough, while Goku rests too much.

I think it's something more ill defined and intangible really. Basically Goku has more, "heart", for lack of a better term.

There are many theories.
One simply goes like this:
Goku, since he was born, had always great trainers (Gohan, Kamme-senin, Kami, Kaio, etc...) while Vegeta pretty much had to learn everything from scratch himself. That could create a huge gap between the 2 (remember Vegeta is quite older).

Another option is that Goku loves to fight, and to do so, he needs an equal partner, whereas Vegeta loves to win a fight, so he might not look for a good matchup as much?

Or finally, just because?

I think it is a bit xof everything stated here. Goku has always been more attuned with his Ki. Goku's greatest strength is also his greatest weakness. Too much heart.
