Old Hunters questions (no spoilers involved)

Some questions about Old Hunters:

1. If you die in Old Hunters, do you lose your souls if you begin again in the regular Bloodborne? That is....do things that happen in Old Hunters affect your Bloodborne character?

2. How is progress saved, if you're essentially playing 2 games within one? Are there separate saves for Old Hunters?

I am going to buy Old Hunters very soon. I have just entered Nightmare of Mensis in BB.

1. Think of the Old Hunters as another area in the the main game. If you die in Old Hunters you return back to the last lamp you used just as in the regular game.

2. Again progress is saved just like in the regular game. You can get new weapons and fight new bosses. If you played the DLC for Dark Souls it is pretty much like that.

Here is a link on the specifics.

Thanks very much, binaryvegeta. I've heard it said that you should start Old Hunters before finishing BB (unless you're content with starting in NG+). I am up to Nightmare of Mensis. Without giving away any spoilers, how close am I to completing the game?

I did not get any DLC for the previous Souls games. I see that Artorias is not even available for download on PSN....not sure what happened to it. I think the "Prepare to Die PS3 edition" (which contains the DLC) is only available overseas or possibly Canada. I recently bought the DLC-included Dark Souls 2 PS4 version, so look forward to starting it at some point after BB and DS3.

Thanks!

No problem and yup you close.

It is up to you on how you want to start the old hunters. You can start the old hunters before the wet nurse(second to last boss in the game) or the last boss in the main game. A certain area changes a bit after you beat the wet nurse.. I don't want to spoil the last boss because it is one hell of a fight.

Are you going for the platinum trophy? I would back up a save before the wet nurse fight or the last boss fight to go for the three different endings..

I just recently bought the Artorias DLC on the PSN store.. Maybe they took it off? Dark Souls III next WEEK!

Thanks very much for the info! Glad to know I am relatively close to the end. Therefore, I am going to buy Old Hunters within the next couple of weeks. I keep waiting for a sale for it on PSN but it doesn't seem to ever be discounted.

I am not really big on acquiring trophies, but thanks to your info, I will indeed back up a save because I would like to see the different endings.

I just tried searching for Artorias on PSN and this time, I found it....not sure what happened yesterday. I am intrigued by maybe searching for the "Prepare to Die" PS3 disc somewhere, since it has the DLC included. I don't think it's like DS2-Scholar, though.....that is, the DLC added stuff is not woven into the game from the start (you have to access it, like BB). I might be wrong though.

Yeah, getting super psyched for DS3! Pre-ordered it and looking forward to a midnight release for it. I sound like a geek but I'm getting a bonus gift DS3 keychain free with my order...lol.

Sorry to bug you....another quick question about Old Hunters. So, I know I want to start it before completing Bloodborne, but what happens if I FINISH Bloodborne WHILE Old Hunters is in progress? Won't that reset the game and all? I assume that will push everything to NG+, including Old Hunters. Furthermore, I assume I will have to go through hoops once again to kill the needed boss in NG+, which will give me access again to Old Hunters?

A bit confusing but I'm sure there's a good explanation!

Thanks!

Artorias is awesome in Dark Souls. I have heard a rumor he might be showing up in Dark Souls III...

If you finish Bloodborne in the main story the game will go on to NG+ and I am guessing that you will have to get up to Vicar Amelia again defeat her to get the item that allows you to go into The Old Hunters. Vicar Amelia was a breeze for me in the regular game, but damn tough in my NG+

I think you right though. I needed to play the game in NG+ to get the platinum and if you not going for the trophies you probably won't need to start a NG+.

I believe you're right about Artorias, from what I have read. I know nothing of him, since I couldn't progress very far in DS1 thus far. Bloodborne is, by far, the Souls/Blood game I've had the most success in.

So, basically, I have to FINISH Old Hunters before finishing Bloodborne. That is, if I finish Bloodborne even while Old Hunters is still in progress, everything will go into NG+...including Old Hunters.

Thanks!
