Good movie but one simple flaw

Dhrushyam is a pretty well made movie with some questionable intro scenes and filler scenes to pad its length to needlessly being over 2hrs long.
Add to that a couple of useless songs. Remove those and you'd get a very nice and tight 105-110min thriller which would've been perfect for this movie.

I did read that this is a copy of a Japanese movie Suspect X. Too bad. Indian movies rarely exhibit originality when they're good and that is a shame. There are good indian movies but they all follow a pre-set type. Deviate from the norm and the movie seems great till you read that it is a copy. (e.g. Aamir movie - loved it till I found out it was nearly a scene by scene copy of Cavite, some Indonesian or Fillipino movie)

The acting was great, directing was good. They didn't need the needless sex innuendo scene nor the casual talk which was very sad to hear. The husband watches some arousing scene, comes home and wife asks him "did you watch a bedroom scene?". And he playfully talks with her and eventually says "if not bedroom scene, we'll have a rape scene" or something like that. I was like WTF.
Rape is a very bad topic to be casually thrown around like that. Sends the wrong message to Indians that it is ok to be casual and talk about it and that rape is nothing.

Anyways, one flaw in the movie -

they easily tracked the victims cell phone to determine where he was. Why didn't they do that with the family's cell phone? That would've easily placed him at the home.
Assuming he didn't take his cell phone on his first trip to the Vijayanagaram city, it would show him home. If he did, they will know he took it the next day and not the prior day.



There's other minor things too to check like how did he get to the body and plant it in the construction site? Does no one have any cameras anywhere? Especially the more modern swami temple area? movie theater? hotel lodge area?

They could've bugged his home and caught him that way. POlice have been known to do that.

Still, a good movie. Well made.
