A scene towards the end (spoilers)

I am not sure if the director intended the scene to be funny but i genuinely laughed when the fake Rabbi tried to say the prayer and proceeded on to digging along side Saul.
Posting this because I am curious if others thought this was tragic but hilarious at the same time.
