Better as a single film

I have no idea why Microsoft chose to release this episodically. There has been no end of complaints on this board about spoilers in the "next time" segments, as well as other issues that cropped up from the sporadic releases.

I watched the film's Blu-Ray cut with a halo fan who hadn't watched the show when it released as a series and he actually enjoyed it. Heck, I could imagine a lot of people enjoying this version a lot more. The pacing seemed tighter, it was harder to forget some tiny plot points that may have only been mentioned once, and there were no constant notifications about branching scenes, which in some cases had completely different tones than what was just on screen.

In short, if you really want to watch this movie (and yes, I'm calling it a movie), get the blu-ray version and don't even bother watching it on the Halo Channel (don't get me started on that, random quality drops and lock outs galore, now with added performance issues in the new version) It just begs the question why didn't Microsoft release the series as a film on the game disc?

I simply couldn't imagine anyone liking this dreck. The storyline was so bad, so poorly written, I was trying to imagine anyone actually buying into this (very) poor man's version of pitch black. But now I see that there is, in fact, at least one person who does. Color me shocked. If you, the reader, have any interest in renting this movie or (God forbid) buying it, I have one piece of advice. Don't! Read the Amazon reviews, they will tell you everything you need to know.

I was another chump who bought it and it was pants. Utterly, utterly awful.

It might as well have not been Halo for the connections that it had. I should have known at the beginning because the Elite was terrible. He had no weight in the scene and so obviously looked like he'd been photoshopped in.

The FX were so bad they wouldn't even be good enough for the films on the Sci-fi channel.

It was OK as a movie but only because I love the Halo franchise. The beginning was much more interesting with the covenant Elite but it got boring on their actual mission.

I agree completely. Watching it as a film does wonders for the film's pacing.

I, a huge Halo fan, actually watched Nightfall with a friend who has never even played Halo. We both liked it a lot. Those second stories are definitely interesting... but yeah, they belong as featurettes that you should watch AFTER the film, not during.
