Wait! Is this for reals?!?!

The Haunting Of Molly Hartley is one of my guilty pleasure films. So much about it seemed contrived and sort of lame. Yet I enjoyed the *blank* out of that movie! The cheesy Lifetime movie feel, the cliche set ups, and the ending gets me every time. So as much as I want to scream no! I am kind of excited to see this film happen!

It is funny you said cheese Lifetime movie feel because I have seen it many times playing on it.

I had the same reaction, is this for real? but for quite different reasons. I couldn't believe they'd turn out a sequel to such a terrible movie.

I gave The Haunting of Molly Hartley (2008) a 3/10
I can't imagine this will be much better.

You only get disappointed, if you expect too much of a movie, or expect it to be something it's not. I've even enjoyed watching bad movies, because I didn't expect anything else from them.

This movie ruins that feeling you've described.... I too am an ashamed fan of "The Haunting of Molly Hartley" but this movie just left a sour taste in my mouth... it was awful.

**WARNING**

This movie has nothing to do with the previous 'Molly Hartley' movie. The only coincidence is both characters have the same name.

While this film is entirely different in it's tone and feel, it does use the same character (but different actress) and continues the story of The Haunting of Molly Hartley.

Some have stated that The Exorcism of M.H. could stand alone as a movie about an exorcism in an asylum, but I feel it would lose some of it's richness (yes I said richness, I'm in the minority who enjoyed it even though I have my complaints about it).

Bottom line: Don't go in expecting a seamless sequel to the first, because it was created by a different group of people who took the original film in an entirely different direction.

It doesn't feel like the first at all, but it helps to have seen the first film beforehand, imo. The dialogue in this film mentions the first film several times. I think that having the background of the first film makes this one more meaningful, and without it, the Molly of this film has little background.
