Did anyone else notice the roles were reversed? [spoilers]

Between Dan and Mel anyway. Reverse their roles and it would have been a cliche: man beats woman accidentally when too drunk, guy finds girl cheating when guy comes to apologize, gurl leaves boy at end.

But the way it played out was very refreshing, even if just by having the roles reversed.
