Russell Brand is like a manic David Brent

While watching this documentary it occurred to me: is Russell Brand acting? Is he playing a sort of manic version of Ricky Gervais' David Brent of the Office? I could almost take him seriously if he wasn't so over the top about his beliefs. He's right the way Betnie Sanders is right about things, but his manner is self-serving and egotistical
