The whole reason this movie is a buddy road trip is because Sonic says he doesn't know where San Francisco is. In an age where Google maps exists, I find it hard to believe the road trip aspect needed to happen at all. Also, why did Sonic have to be brought up with an elevator to the roof of the building to get his rings? He's fast enough to run up walls.
shareWe saw Tom actually using a marker on a paper roadmap to plan his route from Montana to California. Perhaps online mapping isn't a thing in this universe.
And, yeah, why in the hell didn't Sonic just scale the Transamerica Pyramid? There's no gate or barrier protecting the rooftop.
The studio tried their best with the redesign of Sonic's eyes, but it didn't improve much. I gave it a 3/10. Jim Carrey couldn't even save this movie from some of its ridiculous plots.
