Jim Carrey was back in form

I haven’t this Jim Carrey in a very long time. This was the Carrey that I loved. I couldn’t care less about his politics I just want to see him back being entertaining. He clearly can still channel that 90s energy. I hope he will now do a comedy and bring this energy with him.

It was good but I wish they let him do more.

"What do I look like? An Imbecile? Of course I want a Latte, I LOVE THE WAY YOU MAKE THEM!!!"

I fucking died in that scene. Love 90's Jim Carrey :D

reply

My condolences.

I agree. He was great in this.

The evil dance bit he did, just before the accepting of the latte went on a bit. It felt like they just put that there to let Jim be Jim for a few minutes, with no real other purpose. But that was more a directorial choice, rather than any critique of his performance.

A decent movie, but Carrey came close to stealing the show.

reply

He completely carried the whole movie on his back. The only thing I remember about this movie is Carrey and his contraptions. Sonic himself was fairly - meh.

I'll bet the reason he was back in form was the same reason Sonic was treated properly. Jeff Fowler, the director, was a 90s kid/teenager who most likely had a lot of respect for both Sonic and Carrey. He's probably been dreaming about doing a movie about one or the other for a long time, and got an opportunity to have them both in the same movie. Granted, Fowler doesn't have a writing credit, but he was able to determine what does and doesn't make an adequate Sonic film.

He wanted to sell a hundred thousand tickets but sold less.
I found it funny.

100% agreed
