Why didn't they use a man in a hedgehog suit?

It would have been more realistic, and removed the uncanny valley effect.

reply

because it's not a human and he doesn't move like a human.

It worked for "Howard the Duck" and "The Cat in the Hat".

They was not able to do Duck full CGI which is why otherwise he would of been.

Try finding a person who is what 3 feet tall not going to happen also if you think abotu what the character does most of that would need to be done via CGI anyway.

If they really wanted to go CGI mad Dr Robotic would of been as well for the whole movie.

reply

I doubt that would work. Unless it was a clever mix of CGI and practical, then simply having a dude in a suit wouldn’t be convincing for this character.

Reportedly they’re now going to be changing the character’s design for the movie, so we’ll see how it turns out.

reply

If that's true it means that audiences must have hated it at screenings. The comments section on youtube is so hateful. I've never seen such hate. What they're doing to Pikachu to me seems much more blasphemous.

reply

Believe me, they tried. But no man in a suit can go fast enough.

reply

I heard that Barry Allen was asked, but turned the role down.

reply

Because Jaleel White didn't want to do the movie and run that fast

reply

Typical internet dummy!

reply

yeah it would have been a perfect comeback for Mike Myers

reply

Tom Cruise wasn't available... he's the only actor who can run at the required speed.
