The Lion King was made for the same age group as this, right? I was 6 when it came out in theaters and I LOVED it! The argument for this show being animated in the style it uses and having such simplistic writing is the age group. So what happened in the last 22 years?

shareYeah, unfortunately the actual films are made for all ages to love, while the little spin-off cartoons are "just for little kids"...supposedly justifying an extreme reduction in or even a complete lack of quality. Imo The Lion Guard is one of the few things worth watching on Disney's TV channels if you aren't a little kid who'll watch anything, especially if it features the physical appearances of beloved characters. (Yet it could be much, much, muuuuuuch better.)
shareIt's not really aimed at the same age group. Six years old would be at the top end of who Disney Junior aim their shows at, which is mainly preschool age groups. We're probably talking about 3 year olds being about the main target group here.

If you want to make a comparison between then and now, look at other motion pictures. Disney does still indeed make fantastic movies for all age groups, Pixar especially.
