Public Movie Funding Leads Nowhere

It seems that Canada (as in Sweden where I live) think it's a good thing funding the movie business to achieve a certain level of cultural awareness, including all regions.

But the result often show to be disappointing. Sure, it might lead to you discovering YOUR "Ingemar Bergman of Canada", but so what? Bergman, speaking as a Swede, was a stuck up psychopat, making total *beep* *beep* that Woody Allen adored (and similar artsy, suicidal nerds).

I think a movie need to float by itself, economically especially.

Maybe I'm just thick but I don't understand your point.

To be honest, I think if there wasn't any gov't funding, there would be a lot less movies made in Canada, especially actual Canadian made movies and not just American movie companies making movies in Canada.
